alacrity in action

I have been working at my current company for over 2.5 years now. I joined after a major previous restructure in IT with the bitterness still up in the air. There were very few changes since, so when new Managing Director took his post last December, it was more than certain we were up for another shift.

I didn’t need to wait long as last month the outlines of a new structure were announced. I can’t say whether it’s better or worse, it is just different. What I can say is though, is that I lost my manager, head of our former department, in the process. This, no doubt, is a big loss since he was my mentor and have taught me about a lot about management, Agile and Lean. He was a leader with energetic and passionate style that perfectly fit my personal preference.

Now waiting to see who will be my next manager I thought I draft a few questions that will allow me to make an informed decision about my future.

  1. What will you want to achieve in the next 30 / 90 days?
  2. What will you expect me to do?
  3. What direction will you want me to take my team?
  4. What resources will you make available for my team and me to develop our skills?
  5. What will you teach me?

Let’s see what happens.
